Chapter 85
The tension in the room was palpable as Myra stood, her face pale and her hands trembling. Every part of her wanted to run, to escape the suffocating weight of betrayal that seemed to surround her like a storm. Sean’s words cut through her, his anger toward her burning with a cold fury that stung more than any physical blow.
“Get the f*ck out of my sight!”
His words echoed in the silence that followed, the weight of his hatred for her heavier than any slap could ever be. And yet, Myra stood there, her gaze locked onto him with a mix of disbelief and heartbreak. She couldn’t believe how quickly things had spiraled, how the man she had trusted with her heart had turned on her so easily, all for Lyla.
The woman in his arms, the one who had so effortlessly played the victim, seemed to have woven a perfect web of lies. Her sobs were an act, and yet, they managed to reach Sean in ways that Myra’s pleas never had. It was infuriating. Myra had tried so hard to stand by him, to be there for him when he was at his lowest, but it was never enough.
As the four men entered the cafeteria, their attention shifted to the drama unfolding in front of them. Tony’s gaze found Myra, and she saw something flicker in his eyes—concern, perhaps, or maybe a hint of something more. But she couldn’t dwell on it. Not now. Not when everything felt like it was falling apart.
Lyla’s sobbing intensified, her words dripping with feigned sorrow. “I know you love Sean, Myra, and I didn’t want to use these tactics… but what else could I do? I never wanted to leave him, I always planned on coming back to him. But you and your mother…” Lyla faltered, then quickly shut her mouth, her gaze flickering toward Sean as if seeking his approval.
But Myra wasn’t listening anymore. She was done with the lies, done with the manipulation. She had been nothing but supportive, and yet here she was, being chased away for a woman who had no loyalty, no sincerity. The anger burned within her, and she couldn’t help but laugh, though it was a broken, bitter sound.
“Myra, I know you love Sean…” Lyla continued, her voice soft and pleading. “But please, don’t make this harder than it needs to be. Let him go, for both of our sakes.”
