Chapter 98
Myra shook her head gently as she glanced at Tilly. “No, I haven’t found a new job yet. I just need a break for now. But you still have a lot of work left here. You can’t leave just yet,” she said, her voice calm and reassuring.
Tilly’s eyes widened in surprise. “You’re really going to quit your job, Miss Stark? Is that for real?” She seemed to be almost over the moon at the idea. She grabbed Myra’s arm in excitement, her voice rising with enthusiasm. “Did you already find something else? Can you take me with you? I’ve been thinking about leaving this job for a while, but now that you’re going, I have a reason to leave too!”
Myra let out a small sigh, trying to keep things grounded. “No, Tilly. I haven’t found anything else. But I want to leave this chapter behind for now. You, on the other hand, still have a lot to offer. You’re the one most familiar with the Sunny Bay Project, and I think this is your time to take over. You’ll do great with it.”
Tilly looked uncertain, her brow furrowing slightly. “But… after you leave, won’t it be hard for me? You’ve been handling everything so well. How am I supposed to step into your shoes?”
Myra gave her a reassuring smile. “You’ll be fine. At first, it might feel overwhelming, but you’ve already been involved from the start. You know the ins and outs of the project, and that’s half the battle. Besides, you’ve got the skills, Tilly. You’ve got a lot of potential. I’ll even speak to the director about it before I leave. It’ll be a great opportunity for you to grow.”
Tilly’s eyes softened, and she nodded slowly. “I’ll do my best, Miss Stark. Thank you for trusting me with this.”
Myra nodded back, her smile warm but tinged with a sense of finality. “I know you will. Just stay focused, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything. You’ve got this, Tilly.”
As Myra headed back to her desk, she couldn’t shake the feeling that everything was about to change. Resigning from her job at Chase Group was the first step, but it wasn’t as simple as it seemed. The decision was clear, but the emotions were complicated. Walking away from the company was one thing, but walking away from the life she had built with Sean… that was another.
